    Overview of ANRS MIE departments

Scientific departments

  • Basic Research: This department manages basic research projects, preclinical research projects, and certain translational projects.
  • Innovation: This department oversees vaccine research, therapeutics research—including antivirals—diagnostics research, and digital innovation research.
  • Clinical Research: This department manages clinical studies and works closely with the Pharmacovigilance Department.
  • Public Health and Social Sciences: This department handles public health research, digital approaches, and research in the social sciences and humanities.
  • Vigilance: Within the scope of research promoted by ANRS MIE, the main missions of the Pharmacovigilance Department are the assessment and monitoring of risks related to clinical research, as well as the supervision and evaluation of participant safety, in compliance with the sponsor’s standard operating procedures and regulatory and ethical research requirements.

Cross-Cutting departments

Strategy and Partnerships: This department manages the agency’s partnerships in Europe and internationally, the development of the agency’s international network, exceptional or cross-cutting coordination activities, and impact studies and analyses. Under the authority of the Director, it also coordinates the response to crises related to emerging infectious threats.

Structuring support to research: This department oversees clinical study platforms, the development of collections and biobanks, cohorts, and animal models. It also carries out cross-cutting activities in securing research funding, supporting project preparation, and organising calls for projects.

Support departments

  • Administration and Finance: This department is responsible for activities such as managing research funding, procurement, personnel management, and management control.
  • Communication and Scientific Information: This department helps to disseminate the research advances supported by ANRS Emerging Infectious Diseases and to raise awareness of the agency among its various audiences and partners.
