AFEF 2026: an ANRS MIE symposium dedicated to rare viral hepatitis

From 7 to 9 October 2026, the 99th Scientific Meeting of the French Association for the Study of the Liver (AFEF) and the 27th Continuing Medical Education Days in Hepatology will take place at the Palais des Congrès in Strasbourg.

Main points

  • The meeting will bring together researchers, clinicians and professionals in hepatology for scientific sessions, lectures, continuing medical education courses, symposia and workshops.
  • A joint AFEF / ANRS MIE symposium will be held on Thursday 8 October, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m., in the Marie Curie Room.
  • The session will focus on rare viral hepatitis, through three presentations addressing severe acute hepatitis of unknown origin, metagenomic approaches and rat hepatitis E.

Following the 2025 edition held in Paris to mark the 50th anniversary of the French Association for the Study of the Liver (AFEF), the annual congress resumes its tour of France and will take place in Strasbourg for its 2026 edition.

Over the course of three days, the programme will feature club sessions, meetings of the reflection and strategic foresight groups, scientific presentations, academic lectures, continuing medical education courses, symposia and workshops. Discussions will also highlight the interaction between basic research and clinical practice, particularly through the activities of the Basic and Translational Research reflection and strategic foresight group, oral presentation sessions and the Basic Science Course.

This edition will also see the continuation of the work carried out by the Health Data Research group, as well as the evolution of the Alcohol-Related Liver Disease and Metabolic Steatopathy group, which has now become the Steatotic Liver Diseases group.

The programme will also include the Young Hepatologists Seminar, workshops, joint AFEF/SFD and AFEF/ANRS MIE symposia, as well as the second edition of MUST.
