With the detection of vaccine-derived polioviruses in sewage in the USA, UK and Israel since June 2022, ANRS Emerging Infectious Diseases (ANRS MIE) has activated a Level 1 Emergence Unit.
This includes:
- conducting a watch of the scientific literature and news,
- holding expert meetings to review ongoing research and identify research priorities should the epidemic intensify.
