Global Health EDCTP3 Joint Undertaking

The European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) is a public-public partnership between European and sub-Saharan African countries. It is intended to support collaborative research projects that accelerate the development of new or improved clinical interventions for the prevention or treatment of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria or other emerging or re-emerging poverty-related infectious diseases (including neglected infectious diseases) in sub-Saharan Africa.

France is an active member of the partnership

ANRS MIE & Global Health EDCTP3

ANRS MIE is heavily involved in defining the partnership’s purposes, as well as in its implementation. Alongside the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the agency participates in the EDCTP General Assembly, acting as a link between all French research institutions.

  • France has been represented on the EDCTP Steering Committee for several years by Yazdan Yazdanpanah from 2019 to 2022 and by Eric D’Ortenzio, Head of Strategy and Partnerships at ANRS MIE since May 2022. Two technical advisors from the agency are also taking part in the EDCTP General Assembly.
  • Within the framework of Aviesan Sud, together with ITMO I3M and the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, ANRS MIE  leads an EDCTP mirror group to share information and foster cooperation between French institutions.
  • ANRS MIE centralises French in-kind contributions and acts as an interface between French research institutions and the EDCTP Secretarial teams.
