Launch of a new scientific steering group on viral haemorrhagic fevers

The ANRS Emerging Infectious Diseases has established a new scientific steering group on viral haemorrhagic fevers, following a two-day symposium attended by members of the coordinated action and external speakers.

On July 2 and 3, the launch symposium for the ANRS MIE’s new coordinated action on viral hemorrhagic fevers was held, chaired by Drs. Marie Jaspard, Sylvain Baize and Abdoulaye Touré.

The event featured insighful presentations from Drs. Ian Crozier, Sung Joon Park, Ali Mirazimi and Judith Hellman, exploring critical topics in clinical research, therapeutics and human and social sciences. These presentations were followed by three thematic workshops on:

Research in wildlife: Addressing how to map risks in the field of viral haemorrhagic fevers”;
Vaccination in epidemic contexts: examples of Lassa fever and Congo haemorrhagic fever”.
Place of multitherapies in the treatment of Ebola and Lassa fever”.

This event provided a valuable opportunity for French-speaking and international stakeholders to exchange ideas, review the current state of research on viral haemorrhagic fevers and discuss upcoming scientific challenges. It also advanced the structuring of the coordinated action and the consolidation of working groups tasked with leading collaborative research projects.
