Generic call for proposals: HIV/AIDS, STIs, viral hepatitis, tuberculosis (2025-2)
The ANRS MIE is launching the first session of its biannual call for generic projects. This call is for funding applications for projects, initiation contracts and research grants relating to :
- All research into HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), viral hepatitis and tuberculosis, including research into their co-infections;
- Research into other infections or pathologies that are useful for understanding HIV/AIDS, STIs, viral hepatitis and/or tuberculosis;
- Research into the impact of other infections or diseases on the state of health, care, screening or prevention of HIV/AIDS, STIs, viral hepatitis and/or tuberculosis.
Research priorities for the 2025 call for projects
This year, the ANRS MIE has included in its generic call for proposals research priorities targeting specific and evolving themes, with the aim of mobilising additional efforts to advance knowledge on these subjects considered to be of major importance.
These priorities target research in France and in the PRFIs on :
- prevention of mother-to-child transmissionof HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis and congenital syphilis;
- screening, non-vaccinal bio-medicalprevention and non-biomedical prevention of HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections;
- the cure for HIV/AIDS and HBV and HDV infections;
- new therapeutic approachesfor tuberculosis;
- implementation and scaling-up of interventions.
While the submission of research projects targeting these priorities is strongly encouraged, projects on other research topics within the scope of the call remain eligible.

Who can apply?
The call for proposals is open to all French research laboratories, whether public or private, contributing to the public service missions of higher education and research. The proposed research projects may be presented in the form of a partnership between several French or international research teams, but the team carrying out the research must be attached to a French research establishment.
Research grants for theses or post-doctorates are also eligible. These grants may be associated with research projects submitted to the call for proposals or may be independent. They may be non-nominative at the time the application is submitted. Applicants for these grants must be attached to a French research organisation.

Should the project application be written in English or French?
French is the recommended language, but both options are possible.
How do I submit a project or a research grant to the generic call for proposals on Apogée?
All applications must be completed online on the Apogée platform:
- Log on to Apogée
- If you do not yet have an account, request your login details using the link “I do not yet have a personal space and would like to create one“
- Once you have logged in, use the form that corresponds to your application and which can be found in the left-hand menu (Generic PAA tab: Research project / Initiation contract or Research grant).

Is there a minimum or maximum budget for this call for proposals?
No budget limit has been formally defined. The amounts for applicant projects may vary depending on the nature of the project. However, it is essential that any budget requested is duly justified and that it is in line with the proposed project.
Is it possible to fund a doctoral or post-doctoral student within the framework of the call for proposals?
Yes, it is possible. To fund a doctoral or post-doctoral student, a separate research grant application must be submitted, in addition to the “Research project” application, using the dedicated form in Apogée. Research grants may or may not be associated with a research project submitted to the same call for proposals. If they are associated with a research project, they may or may not be nominative. On the other hand, in the case of a RA that is independent of a project, it must be named.
