2024 Activity report

Last updated on 25 July 2025

In brief

In 2024, ANRS MIE continued its mission to support excellence in research on HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, STIs, tuberculosis and emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases.
Through its ‘One Health’ approach, which brings together the health of humans, animals and the environment, the agency has successfully initiated and structured high-impact projects in basic, clinical and public health research.

Key points

2024 was marked by the launch of major scientific studies, the structuring of new working groups and coordinated actions, and the organisation of international conferences, confirming the relevance of the agency’s model of action.

In addition, ANRS MIE consolidated its role of coordinator at the European and international levels by strengthening its strategic partnerships. Its increased involvement in the European partnership BE READY and its enhanced collaboration with low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) illustrate its commitment to responding effectively to epidemic threats wherever they arise.

This activity report is structured around four main sections:

  • Coordinating research during epidemics, with a focus on rapid and appropriate responses to health threats, such as mpox, chikungunya and avian influenza.
  • Highlights of scientific activity, highlighting structuring programmes such as PEPR MIE, the Start programme, as well as research platforms and networks.
  • International collaborations and partnerships, which underscore the agency’s growing commitment to science diplomacy and the structuring of international networks.
  • The coordination of research communities, which reflects the collective dynamism driven by expert groups, symposiums and scientific conferences.

Through this 2024 review, ANRS MIE reaffirms its ambition to play a central role in preparing scientific responses to infectious diseases.
