The coordinated action 42 “Hepatitis viruses” organized the annual meeting of the Réseau National Hépatites virales on March 11 and 12, 2025 at the Institut Pasteur in Paris.
From 11 to 12 March 2025
The two-day National Viral Hepatitis Network (RNH) annual meeting was held on 11 and 12 March 2025 at the Institut Pasteur auditorium in Paris. This 25th meeting, held entirely face-to-face, marked a turning point as it was the first to be organised by the new Coordinated Action on Viral Hepatitis Basic and Translational Research (CA42) board.
The event began with a speech by Eloi Verrier, president of CA42, accompanied by the five other members of the board. It was an opportunity for him to officially introduce himself to the viral hepatitis community as president, to introduce the new board members and to share the CA42’s future activities.
The first day was organised around three thematic sessions:
These discussions were enhanced by two lectures: ‘New approaches to cure chronic HBV infection’ by Pr Fabien Zoulim and ‘Multiple hepatitis E viruses in multiple hosts: what will be the next zoonosis? by Dr Nicole Pavio.
A new feature this year was the opportunity for some researchers to present their work in the form of posters during breaks and lunch. This initiative enabled seven posters to be put forward, around which constructive exchanges took place between the participants and the presenters.
The day continued with the presentation of the thesis prizes, co-organised with the Société Française de Virologie (SFV) and awarded to two young PhD students for the innovation, originality and quality of their work:

The second day began with a lecture by Dr Viet Loan Dao Thi: ‘Reprogramming the way we study hepatotropic viruses: the power of Stem Cell-derived culture models’. It continued with 3 thematic sessions:
Eloi Verrier closed the meeting by announcing the next CA42 thematic meeting, scheduled for 1 July 2025. He also awarded the prize for the best oral communication to Sarah Prallet. Aimed at rewarding a young researcher (doctoral student, postdoctoral fellow or non-statutory staff under 35, presenting unpublished data), this prize, initiated in 2024, was a great success. The selection was made by the CA42 board.
The event attracted 111 participants on the first day and 102 on the second, confirming its appeal within the scientific community. The location of the meeting was particularly appreciated by the participants, contributing to the success of these two days rich in exchanges and scientific advances.
See you on 1 July 2025 for the next AC42 thematic meeting!
