Coordinated Action on Viral Hepatitis Basic and Translational Research (CA42)

This Coordinated Action drives basic and translational research in the field of viral hepatitis. It explores new areas of interest, establishes future directions and supports researchers in the maturation of their projects.

In brief

This Coordinated Action focuses on basic and translational research in the field of viral hepatitis, which remains a major public health problem.

Its objectives are to:

  • Study the fundamental molecular and cellular aspects of the life cycles of the hepatitis viruses, host responses and diseases induced by these viruses
  • Provide ANRS MIE with new concepts and directions for prevention and therapy

Activities

The AC42 operates in the form of themed days open to the entire community, held three times a year. These meetings are a continuation of previous working groups and cover all topics related to fundamental and translational research on viral hepatitis.

The topics covered include:

  • molecular interactions between viruses and their host cells,
  • immune responses to viral infections,
  • the development of new technologies and experimental models,
  • the development of new antiviral strategies,
  • and understanding the pathogenesis mechanisms associated with viral infections targeting the liver.

Beyond sharing knowledge, the central objective of AC42 is to make these days a space for discussion and collective reflection, promoting open and interactive exchanges. The thematic days are thus designed as places for ideas to mature, where research programmes can be discussed at a very early stage, even at the concept or initial hypothesis stage. Led by members of the AC42 board and experts in the field, these days aim to:

  • stimulate scientific exchanges within the community,
  • identify complementarities between teams,
  • promote the emergence of collaborations and synergies,
  • and encourage the structuring of consortia around innovative research projects.

AC42 thus positions itself as a catalyst for collaborative projects, with the ambition of mobilising the community to develop strong collective initiatives capable of responding to the major scientific challenges associated with the fight against viral liver infections.
