To mark the 40th anniversary of AIDES, this symposium will review some of the association's social science research. The aim is to showcase the research, highlight its diversity and reveal its blind spots.
16 October 2024
Since the early 1990s, a number of social science studies have been carried out on and within AIDES, focusing on its history, modes of action, activists and positioning in the fight against AIDS.
the fight against AIDS.
On the occasion of the association’s 40th anniversary, this symposium will be an opportunity to highlight scientific views on the creation of the association, its struggles and victories, and its specific features, and thus contribute to the work of remembrance that activists have undertaken on the occasion of this anniversary. It will take place on October 16, in the auditorium of PariSanté Campus. Registration is compulsory.
The symposium will also provide an opportunity for debate and discussion on the sometimes ambivalent interest of AIDES in social science research. By demonstrating the richness of the AIDES field, the symposium will provide an opportunity to reflect on the added value – in terms of fuelling the questions posed by the social sciences – of work on a very specific HIV association at European and global level, which has made its mark on the fight against AIDS over the past 40 years.
