13th AFRAVIH 2026 International Francophone Conference on HIV, Sexual Health, Hepatitis, and Emerging Infections

The 13th edition of the AFRAVIH International Francophone Conference will be held in Lausanne from May 4 to 7. It brings together international Francophone experts from a variety of disciplines who are engaged in research and care related to HIV, hepatitis, sexual health, and emerging infections. For ANRS MIE, this event is an opportunity to reaffirm its scientific commitment to these diseases.

This symposium aims to analyze the fight against HIV in the age of “infodemics,” against a context of growing distrust of science and institutions.
It will highlight the role of rumors and misinformation, not as mere errors, but as social responses to inequalities, power dynamics, and lived experiences.
The goal is to understand the structural factors that encourage adherence to these narratives, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, and to identify appropriate strategies to address them.
Discussions will also address human rights issues, the stigmatization of certain groups, and the impacts of political dynamics on research and public health.
The agency is hosting a booth with its partners Expertise France and IRD.
