In brief

  • Discover the list of projects selected under the Emergences LMICs 2024 call for proposals
  • The Emergences LMICs 2024 call for proposals is intended to support collaborative research projects between French teams and research teams based in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
  • Launched for the third consecutive year, this funding program aims to strengthen research capacities on emerging infectious diseases through international partnerships.

The Emergences LMICs 2024 call for projects

This call aims to support collaborative research projects between a French team and a team from a low- or middle-income country (LMIC) on global issues related to MIE. It promotes an integrated approach, mobilizing basic, translational, clinical, public health, and social science research.

Thematic priorities include research on:

  • viral hemorrhagic fevers;
  • emerging respiratory viruses;
  • arboviruses.

The Emergence LMICs call for proposals is fully in line with the ANRS MIE’s missions, supporting excellent, partnership-based research with a strong impact on populations, using a global approach.

Emergence LMICs 2024 call for proposals: increased participation reflects growing interest

The 2024 edition of the Emergence LMICs call for proposals confirms its strong momentum, with a growing number of projects submitted, illustrating the scientific community’s sustained commitment to tackling infectious threats. This participation demonstrates the strategic interest in a program dedicated to research on MIE in partnership with LMIC countries, responding to the need for knowledge co-construction, local capacity building, and scientific action in the territories most exposed to epidemics.

A rigorous selection process

The winning projects were selected following a rigorous evaluation by an international scientific committee, based on their scientific excellence, their relevance to the priorities of the call and the quality of the partnership established with teams in LMICs.

They stand out for:

  • their local roots, linked to healthcare or surveillance systems,
  • their potential impact on public health in the countries concerned,
  • their ability to produce original data and structure sustainable scientific dynamics.

By supporting these projects, the Emergence LMICs call for proposals contributes fully to the agency’s strategic objectives: to anticipate, detect, understand and respond rapidly to health crises, while strengthening scientific communities around these themes.
