Main points

The AMRS MIE is pleased to announce, in collaboration with the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC), the launch of a joint request for applications (RfA) on tuberculosis research.

This initiative aims to accelerate progress in tuberculosis research through the creation and support for international collaborations between South Africa and France.

Scientific priorities

The call targets research projects in the following priority areas:

  • Epidemiology, pathogenesis, transmission, and management of subclinical tuberculosis;
  • Identification of biomarkers for disease progression and novel diagnostics;
  • Development of rapid diagnostic tools for drug resistance and precision medicine;
  • Development of new vaccine strategies, including candidates for adult and paediatric populations;
  • Evaluation of new drugs or shortened regimens, particularly for paediatric tuberculosis.

Joint request for applications between ANRS MIE and SAMRC

  • This webinar is designed to provide detailed information on the context of the RfA, its objectives, eligibility criteria, funding, submission process, timetable, etc.
  • This first joint call for projects has a total budget of 3 million euros, with a submission deadline of October 31, 2024. The webinar will offer a platform to exchange with the organizers, ask specific questions, and get advice on maximizing the chances of success of proposals.
  • Interested researchers and institutions are encouraged to attend this webinar to fully understand the program’s expectations and opportunities for international collaboration.

Eligibility criteria

Proposals must be co-led by South Africa and France based researchers, serving as co-principal investigators of the project, to ensure a genuine collaboration between both countries.
