For 2026, the call for projects adopts an integrated approach across all three strands. Its main objective is to promote an approach that is more focused on the development of countermeasures, whether medical or otherwise, to enable better preparedness for epidemics.

Following the success of the 2023, 2024 and 2025 editions and the junior chairs, ANRS MIE is continuing its support for research into emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases with a fourth call for projects.
Applications are invited from 8 June to 8 September 2026.
As part of the acceleration strategy “Emerging Infectious Diseases and Nuclear, Radiological, Biological and Chemical Threats ” (SA MIE MN), supported by the France 2030 plan, the ANRS MIE is leading the “Emerging Infectious Diseases” Priority Research Programme and Equipment (PEPR MIE), which supports research into emerging infectious diseases.
Following the success of the calls for projects launched in 2023, 2024 and 2025, which respectively funded 11 projects to the tune of €22 million, 9 projects for nearly €16 million, and 9 projects for nearly €15 million, the ANRS MIE announces the launch of a fourth call for projects in 2026.
The PEPR MIE’s 2026 call for projects follows on from previous calls by giving priority to supporting projects with strong translational potential and offering concrete prospects for operational application in the face of emerging infectious threats. This focus applies equally to the development of both medical and non-medical countermeasures.
As with previous calls, the 2026 call targets the three categories of emerging or re-emerging infectious diseases posing a high risk of a public health crisis in France: arboviruses, viral haemorrhagic fevers and respiratory viruses. Cross-disciplinary approaches are also strongly encouraged.
The 2026 call under the PEPR MIE has a provisional budget of €10.4 million. It is aimed at large–scale research projects lasting 2 to 3 years and requiring a minimum funding request of €1 million. A multidisciplinary approach and inter–institutional collaborations will be strongly encouraged in order to foster the emergence of ambitious and transformative projects
The call is open from 8 June to 8 September 2026.
